Lau Ming-Hang was born in Hong Kong in 1975. He is also known as “SunFool”. Lau is a freelance stage lighting and three-dimensional paper art designer. In 2001, he graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree, majoring in stage lighting design.
In 2006, he added a third dimension to his paper-cutting, as well as performances to create a pop-up book story theater. The unique effect of his pop-up books, blended with the flexible presentation techniques of storytelling, has become a very distinctive theater performance form. Lau has designed pop-up sets for many performance groups in Hong Kong and other countries. He also collaborates with various organizations, including Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Hong Kong Repertory Theater Company, developing and promoting interdisciplinary arts: 3D paper-cutting and theater performances. He hopes that through his creations and workshops, modern elements will meet traditional paper-cutting, allowing younger generations to enjoy the art of paper-cutting.
