Born in Chongqing in 1946, Wong graduated from China Textile University in Shanghai in 1969. Wong learned painting from Chinese ink art master Huang Zhou during the 1970s and moved to Hong Kong to start his business in the textile industry in 1978. In the 1990s, Wong started to engage in Chinese painting in his spare time. His artworks mainly portray the natural and city landscape of Hong Kong. Without the burden of any traditional art forms and genres, Wong presents his unique painting style from his observations of the beauty of the lands and expresses his sentiments with brushstrokes.
Wong is currently the visiting artist of Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, Board member of Chinese Painting Institute, vice president of Chinese Ink Painting Institute Hong Kong and member of China Artists Association. Over the years, Wong has won numerous awards, including three awards during the contemporary art exhibition held by the Hong Kong Museum of Art and three times at National Exhibition of Arts in China Award. Wong’s painting “Moving Clouds and Water in the Three Gorges” was included in the publication of “Chinese Art in the 20th Century — Selected Collection of National Art Museum of China” published by the National Art Museum of China. Wong’s works have also been collected by numerous museums and art institutions, such as National Art Museum of China, the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Shenzhen Fine Art Institute.
